Intermediate Backend Engineer, Platform Readiness

Job Summary

Build and maintain agentic workflow components on the Duo Agent Platform, including the Core Agentic Workflow and Requirements Agent, while writing tests, documentation, and evaluations. Contribute to the platform requirements knowledge base by adding requirements, evolving schemas, and improving validation tooling. Create integration surfaces for feature teams via issues, merge requests, design documents, and CI/CD pipelines. Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Data teams to translate their expertise into platform readiness artifacts. This role is part of GitLab's newly established Platform Readiness team in Developer Experience, which ensures features ship successfully across Self-Managed, Dedicated, Dedicated for Government, and GitLab.com platforms. You will develop expertise in platform readiness automation and AI-driven systems while working on high-impact problems that improve GitLab's ability to ship features faster and more reliably.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience with backend focus
  • Proficiency in TypeScript/Node, Python, or Golang
  • Comfort reading and contributing to schemas (YAML, JSON Schema) and structured content
  • Experience with and operational exposure to Kubernetes and reasoning about failure modes
  • Ability to work asynchronously and communicate clearly in written form
  • Exposure to and experience with LLM APIs, prompts, or agentic frameworks (does not need to be incredibly extensive)
