Job Summary
Collaborate with design and architecture teams on projects from concept through completion, participating in design exploration including space planning, material concepts, and experiential ideas. Develop 3D models, visualizations, and presentation materials to communicate design intent, while preparing interior design documentation such as finish plans and specifications. Research and select furniture, finishes, and materials that align with project goals, and participate in client meetings and presentations to contribute ideas that strengthen each project's design and story. This role is based in Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo, Michigan, and requires a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design with 1-7 years of commercial design experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or higher in Interior Design (CIDA accredited)
- 1-7 years professional commercial design experience preferably with a focus on workplace/hospitality design/higher education/multifamily
- Experience in interior design documentation & organization
- Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications
- Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
- Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
- Proactive, Positive, can-do attitude, committed to growth & learning
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with design software such as SketchUp, ArchiCAD or Revit and visualization tools including Adobe Creative Suite or similar programs
