Job Summary
Senior-level interim VP role overseeing Guest Event Management Services (GEMS) at Washington National Cathedral. Leads operational planning, front-of-house operations, event logistics, venue coordination, and hospitality across Cathedral events, services, and public programs. Responsible for strategic planning, staffing models, budgeting, cross-functional leadership, and ensuring a world-class guest experience while maintaining mission-driven operations. Requires extensive leadership experience in venue/hospitality operations, strong organizational and communication skills, ability to lead change, and collaboration with institutional partners. The term is a 9–12 month transitional period to provide continuity during a search for a permanent VP, with on-site leadership at the Cathedral and occasional after-hours/workweek flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, operations, business administration, arts administration, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in venue operations, hospitality, event management, performing arts operations, guest services, or related operational environments.
- Minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience, including experience leading managers and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing complex, high-profile events or public-facing operations in a fast-paced environment.
