Job Summary
Lead weekly worship, plan special services, and provide pastoral care to members and ELCA Central Europe Teachers volunteers. Maintain stability during the transition by strengthening lay leadership, overseeing finances and facilities, and coordinating with the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia. Prepare for future leadership through congregational assessments and self-study while interpreting the church's mission to the ELCA. Serve as the spiritual presence for an international congregation of approximately 80 participants in Bratislava, Slovakia, with an average attendance of 50–70 weekly.
Required Qualifications
- Lutheran tradition
- English-speaking
- Part-time availability (approximately 20 hours per week)
- One-year commitment
- Start by October 1, 2026
- Ability to serve as spiritual leader
- Ability to plan, prepare, and lead weekly worship
- Ability to lead special services (e.g., holidays)
- Ability to lead occasional congregational activities such as Bible study
- Ability to offer pastoral care to ELCA Central Europe Teachers (CET) volunteers
- Ability to provide oversight of essential administrative and organizational functions
- Ability to interpret the mission and ministry of BIC and its companions to the ELCA
- Ability to communicate through periodic communication (e.g., newsletters, blogs, donor engagement)
