Job Summary
Case manage students with learning profiles for grades 5-8 by relaying information to teachers, communicating regularly with families, and collaborating to support those students in the classroom. Work individually with students and in small groups, both in the classroom and during open times, while introducing and facilitating established accommodations for students in the classroom and during testing. Provide educational screenings as needed, make referrals for outside evaluations, and support parents and teachers in understanding outside learning evaluations. Coordinate with the SLS team, Counseling and Wellness department, and outside specialists to assess best support for individual students, and maintain confidential electronic student learning profiles and intervention lists. Support scheduling and teacher-tutor communication with independent tutors for students in the case load, and participate in parent education programs to provide community learning resources.
Required Qualifications
- B.A.
- Teaching Credential (or equivalent)
- Learning Specialist degree (or equivalent professional credentials)
- Education Specialist degree
- Middle school teaching experience
- Experience working with language-based learning differences
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of learning differences
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of assessment techniques
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of resources for supporting a wide range of learners
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational/case management skills
- Ability to communicate with teachers about learning differences
- Ability to work with multiple constituencies
- Understanding of the intersection between learning and behavior support
- Understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
