Job Summary
Lead the legal team providing timely, high-quality, commercially minded support to business partners, reporting to the CEO as a strategic partner on legal issues. Manage, mentor, and develop legal professionals while setting priorities, allocating workload, and overseeing outside counsel relationships and budgets. Provide advice on transactional and corporate governance matters, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, and counsel on advertising, marketing clearance, and data privacy compliance. Advise the Direct to Consumer team on e-commerce laws, subscription models, and consumer protection requirements, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and global privacy regulations including GDPR. This temporary, part-time role begins October 1, 2026, for an expected four-month duration with potential extension, working remotely.
Required Qualifications
- JD degree with license to practice with at least one state bar; must be in good standing
- At least 10+ years of generalist legal experience
- prior experience working in-house
- Deep experience drafting and negotiating broad range of commercial contracts
- Strong working knowledge of data use and protection laws (including state/federal consumer protection and privacy laws, CCPA, GDPR and other global privacy laws)
- Strong working knowledge of consumer protection frameworks
- Strong working knowledge of retail and e-commerce law
- Strong working knowledge of marketing/advertising compliance
- Exceptional written and oral communication and negotiation skills
- ability to distill complex legal issues for both legal and non-legal audiences
- Ability to handle a high-degree ambiguity

- Ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects to completion with little direction

- This is a temporary, part-time position
- The temporary hire will provide coverage while a permanent staff member is on maternity leave
- overlap will be provided for training and onboarding
- Employment is expected to be four months in duration
- beginning on approximately October 1, 2026
- The duration of employment may be extended or shortened at Dollar Shave Club's discretion

Desired Qualifications
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience
