Job Summary

Provide clinical and administrative direction for Inpatient, Outpatient, Ambulatory, and Infusion Pharmacy Departments with 24-hour accountability for quality care programs. Supervise drug dispensation, inspect medication areas for compliance, and maintain strict inventory control across hospital locations. Formulate policies and protocols with the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, manage departmental budgets, and oversee personnel actions including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Evaluate new programs to enhance patient care, represent the department to vendors and regulatory agencies, and ensure adherence to legal, accreditation, and hospital safety standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Current New Hampshire Pharmacy license
  • Ability to plan and perform a wide variety of duties requiring general knowledge of policies and procedures applicable for that area
  • Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, devising methods, modifying or adapting standard procedures to meet different conditions, making decisions based on precedent and policy
  • Ability to endure periods of heavy workload or excessive stress; ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain communications and positive working relationships within the department and with other hospital departments
  • Ability to develop relationships with patients, employees, regulatory agencies, vendors and the public
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and initiate appropriate actions to correct situations
  • Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs
  • Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this position with reasonable accommodation if disabled

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an American Council on Pharmaceutical Education accredited college of pharmacy strongly preferred
  • Pharm.D. preferred
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Previous pharmacy management experience preferred
  • Five years administrative experience preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements
