Interim Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Reviews Computing (m/w/d)

Job Summary
Commission high-impact review and opinion pieces covering computer science, AI, and machine learning for the newly launching Nature Reviews Computing journal. Work closely with authors by providing feedback on synopses, developmentally editing drafts, and refining final manuscripts. Organize peer-review processes and create research highlights while liaising with the scientific community through institutional visits and conferences. Define the journal's direction alongside the Chief Editor to bridge disciplinary gaps and highlight translational relevance. Submit five proposed review articles with topic justifications and potential lead authors during the application process.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD in computer science
- Willingness to travel to meet researchers and learn more about them and their work; and to advertise the journal
- Demonstrable ability to edit text for sense, clarity, factual correctness and language (which will be assessed during the interview process)
- Demonstrable writing ability
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Full-time, fixed-term contract basis
- Hybrid model in Heidelberg or Pune offices
Desired Qualifications
- Previous editorial experience
- Background in areas of theoretical computer science, logic, formal methods, networks and communications systems, hardware and architecture, or distributed computing
- Broad scientific knowledge
- The ability to absorb new areas of research, and identify new developments and research trends in fields beyond their immediate specialty
