Interim Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Reviews Computing (m/w/d)

Job Summary
Commission high-impact Review, Perspective, and Comment articles covering computer science and its applications, including hardware, AI, and machine learning. Work closely with authors by providing feedback on synopses, developmentally editing first drafts, and conducting line-by-line editing of final manuscripts pre-acceptance. Organize and manage the peer-review process while drafting Research Highlights and other editorial content. Liaise extensively with the scientific community through visits to institutions and international conferences to build the journal's profile. Define and build the new journal alongside the Chief Editor, proposing five initial Review articles for commission with topic justifications and lead authors. Submit a CV, cover letter, and five proposed articles by the September 14, 2026 deadline.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD in computer science
- Willingness to travel to meet researchers and learn more about them and their work; and to advertise the journal
- Demonstrable ability to edit text for sense, clarity, factual correctness and language (which will be assessed during the interview process)
- Demonstrable writing ability
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail
- The position is offered on a full-time, fixed-term contract basis, and will be based on a hybrid model in our Heidelberg or Pune offices
Desired Qualifications

- a background in areas of theoretical computer science, logic, formal methods, networks and communications systems, hardware and architecture, or distributed computing
- Broad scientific knowledge
- The ability to absorb new areas of research, and identify new developments and research trends in fields beyond their immediate specialty
