Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive IP support for new product launches and ad-hoc queries, including Freedom-to-Operate reviews and landscape analysis of regulatory and patent environments. Manage patent prosecution before the European Patent Office, draft and file oppositions, and perform due diligence for in-licensed products and business development. Collaborate with external counsel on litigation strategies, monitor competitor launches and IP strategies, and maintain internal patent databases. Deliver basic IP training to new employees and design product-specific sessions for the Portfolio and NPL teams. Requires a Bachelor's or PhD in a scientific field and European Patent Attorney qualification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or a closely related scientific field
- Partially or fully Qualified European Patent Attorney (EQE)
- Proven experience in a similar IP role within a pharmaceutical company (generic, biosimilar, or innovative sector)
- In-depth, hands-on knowledge of European Patent Law and the prosecution process before the EPO
- Strong understanding of EU regulations on medicinal products
- Demonstrated ability to support internal business units with clear, valuable, and actionable data analysis
- Advanced analytical, drafting, and communication skills
- Strong business and commercial acumen
- Ability to work both independently with high autonomy and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
