Job Summary
Design, simulation, layout, and testing of photonic components and circuits. Collaborate closely with the PIC team and other groups (millimeter wave, packaging, module hardware/software/testing) to build complete products, covering silicon photonics and III-V device designs, foundry process development, production tapeout, and testing. Perform design and numerical modeling of passive/active photonic components and high-speed devices for hybrid integration, and create script-based GDS layouts for photonic components and full product chips. Engage in photonics device fabrication, device layout and tapeout, and contribute to hybrid integration and large-scale photonic circuit tape-outs. Requires strong background in optical/electrical engineering and related fields, and experience with photonics simulation tools (e.g., FDTD, HFSS, COMSOL). Salary range for U.S./Canada locations: $148,800.00 - $212,900.00; total compensation includes benefits and potential bonuses per Cisco policies. Remote work permitted within the United States.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors +8 years, Masters +6 years, or Ph.D. +3 years of optical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics and related fields
- Experience with solid-state physics, integrated photonics, and opto-electronics
- Experience with photonics numerical simulation principle and tools, such as FDTD, HFSS, COMSOL and etc.
- Experience in photonic device process and fabrication
- Experience with photonic device layout and tapeout
- Design and numerical modeling of passive and active photonic components, including high speed devices based on hybrid integration
- Script-based GDS layout of photonic components, circuits, and full product chips
