Job Summary
Intake Specialist (part-time) processes admissions of incoming animals and outcomes of Return to Owners; performs related paperwork and computer processing; assists with animal care tasks including vaccination, deworming, microchipping, and basic medical workups; maintains cleanliness and organization of Admissions/Processing areas; coordinates opening/closing of Admissions spaces; monitors inventory and supplies; interacts with Animal Control agencies and clients, providing guidance per AHS policies; requires standing for extended periods and ability to lift up to 50 pounds; schedule is Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; location at Buncombe County Animal Shelter, Asheville, NC; compensation starts at $17.00/hour with benefits for part-time employees.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Intermediate computer knowledge
- Experience with multiline phone system
- Ability to apply proper animal handling skills and knowledge of individual animal temperament
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and communication skills
- Ability to work with volunteers and co-workers in a professional manner
