Job Summary
Process new referrals and refill specialty prescriptions by obtaining refill authorizations, completing patient registrations, and verifying prescription details with insurance, doctors, and patients. Coordinate patient care by communicating coverage and financial obligations, proactively aiding with copay assistance applications, and escalating delays or concerns to the supervisor. Investigate and verify benefits for third-party claims, facilitate appeals processes by composing clinical letters, and track progress on authorizations to maintain turnaround times. Build trusted relationships with patients and prescribers while ensuring all activities comply with organizational standards and specialty pharmacy regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 or more years prior Pharmacy or experience
- 1 or more years prior experience with Specialty or Infusion Pharmacy medications
- Thorough knowledge of Specialty Pharmacy laws and regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Some evening or weekend work
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in healthcare, life sciences, or business
- CA BOP Pharmacy Technician License
