Job Summary
Lead the intake process for all new admissions, including comprehensive nursing assessments, medical histories, medication reconciliation, suicide risk screenings, and physical assessments. Develop initial nursing care plans aligned with ASAM 3.7 standards and ensure required medications are ordered, received, and cataloged at intake. Implement standing withdrawal protocols, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage crisis interventions while maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. Assist with inpatient care, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary case reviews to ensure continuity of care. Collaborate with medical providers, counselors, and peer support staff to coordinate treatment and transitions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Maine
- At least one year of nursing experience in detox, emergency, or behavioral health settings
- Current BLS certification
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal management, and ASAM criteria
- Experience with EMR systems (Kipu)
- Ability to document accurately and efficiently
- Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills in acute settings
- Ability to manage and de-escalate behavioral health crises
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to confidentiality, cultural humility, and trauma-informed care
- Team-oriented with flexibility to support both intake and inpatient care functions
- Must pass criminal background check
