Job Summary
The Intake Nurse role coordinates daily administrative duties with the Director of Nursing, conducts audits, assists with scheduling and admissions processes, and supports nursing staff to maintain high standards of patient care. Responsibilities include conducting initial patient assessments in absence of a Nurse Practitioner, overseeing admissions/transfers/discharges, coordinating with providers, leading shift meetings, performing audits, supervising nursing tasks, administering medications and narcotics counts, ensuring complete documentation and proper handoffs, monitoring patient safety, and coordinating care for patients needing higher levels of care. Licensure as an RN with BLS is required, with preferred experience in mental health and chemical dependency settings; the position involves on-site nursing duties in Louisville, KY.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution required
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a mental health setting preferred
- Experience in chemical dependency field preferred
- Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred
- Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use required
