Job Summary
Intake Mental Health Counselor provides care in the Intake department and inpatient units, conducting safety checks, patient monitoring, de-escalation in crisis situations, and supportive patient interactions. Responsibilities include taking patient photos in the EMR, printing check sheets, and assisting intake coordinators with answering phones; role performed under supervision of the Director of Intake and Chief Intake Officer. Eligible candidates may have a high school diploma with a bachelor’s degree in Mental Health or related field preferred, plus PCT/PCA experience and EHR proficiency. The position is scheduled for every other weekend days (Saturday–Sunday 9am–5:30pm) with benefits including health, retirement, disability, life insurance, PTO, FSA, and tuition reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma; bachelor's degree in Mental Health, Human Services or related field preferred
- Sufficient typing and computer skills to facilitate use of Electronic Health Record; experience with Electronic Health Record, including Medsphere/Vista preferred
- Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries
- Previous experience in psychiatric or substance inpatient, restraint reduction de-escalation, and crisis intervention is preferred
