Intake Counselor - 2nd shift

Intake Counselor on 2nd shift conducts initial behavioral health intake assessments for level-of-care placement in collaboration with emergency departments, psychiatry, and acute care units. Responsibilities include crisis intervention and de-escalation, ensuring patient safety, coordinating with case management and community resources, verifying insurance and obtaining authorizations, facilitating releases of information, telepsychiatry assessments, and documentation in the EMR. Requires a Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology (or related fields) and typically 2 years of therapy/assessment experience; hybrid remote/on-site work arrangement with potential on-site duty at Aurora Psychiatric Hospital. The role supports collaboration with police, rescue services, and community providers, and involves triage, referral, scheduling, and discharge planning within behavioral health services.
