Job Summary
Intake Coordinator I handles inquiry calls, schedules face-to-face assessments, triages to a licensed mental health professional based on patient need, coordinates with the physician to ensure appropriate treatment at the hospital or community provider, ensures EMTALA-compliant screening of medical and behavioral emergencies, and completes admission paperwork including initial care authorization with insurers. The role requires strong phone, documentation, and assessment skills, knowledge of community resources, and ability to coordinate care across hospital and behavioral health settings; emphasized duties include crisis management, patient safety, teamwork, integrity, and adherence to HIPAA and relevant policies.
Required Qualifications
- Meeting state requirements, a LVN, Bachelors or Masters degree in a mental health related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of supervised clinical experience.
- CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
- One to three years of experience in a behavioral health setting.
