Job Summary
Intake Coordinator responsible for the initial patient intake process at The University of Kansas Health System: handle new patient referrals, enter demographic data into EMR, conduct initial insurance screening, coordinate scheduling of tests and appointments, collect and route medical information (outside records, pathology, radiology), collaborate with Financial Counselors and clinical staff to ensure timely, organized, and accurate intake and preparation for initial consultation, and maintain logs/reports of referrals for leadership review. Requires strong customer service, computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel), and knowledge of scheduling, pre-authorization, and basic health insurance/billing procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a healthcare environment
- Minimum of 6 months in a direct customer service environment and/or experience in a call center or switchboard environment
