Job Summary

Conduct initial needs assessments and family violence risk screenings aligned with the MARAM framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women seeking help. Provide short-term practical assistance, facilitate referrals to internal programs and external community resources, and maintain accurate confidential case notes. Build collaborative relationships with internal teams and agency partners while participating in supervision and professional development. Comply with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation including mandatory reporting provisions. This role supports the first point of contact for women experiencing family violence, connecting them to safety, care, and pathways toward healing within a culturally safe environment.

Required Qualifications

  • A Victorian Employees Working with Children's Check card or willing to obtain one
  • Willing to obtain a Police Check at Djirra's expense
  • Driver's License
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Competence with Microsoft Office applications and ability to quickly learn new systems (including compliance portals like SHIP)
  • Sound judgment around confidentiality and mandatory reporting obligations
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate effectively

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the family violence sector, preferably with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Development or related discipline
