Job Summary
Insurance Verification Specialist (IVS) responsible for verifying, interpreting and accurately documenting patient health insurance and benefits, including reviewing benefits for physician visits, allergy testing, hearing aid purchases, and how technology impacts out-of-pocket costs. Will assist patients and families with any required authorizations, referrals, or pre-certifications for payment, provide intake forms and office policies, maintain hard copy and EHR records, and serve as a liaison to educate patients on payment options. Will work in a team environment with flexibility in assignments to support the department's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a clear speaking voice
- Extensive insurance verification and benefits knowledge
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Familiarity with payer contract language (allowables, contracted rates)
- Strong computer literacy and experience with online portal use for insurance programs
- Bi-lingual is a plus
