Job Summary
Insurance Verification Representative / Home Medical Equipment Coordinator handles intake, coordination, and execution of HME orders, verifies insurance/self-pay status, enters data into EMR, coordinates deliveries, educates patients on equipment use and safety, and maintains collaboration across departments to ensure timely setup and billing compliance (including Medicare/Medicaid considerations). Responsibilities include triaging inquiries, reviewing referrals, supporting discharges with hospital liaisons, coordinating equipment education and fittings, processing payments, and ensuring alignment with physician orders, while navigating privacy regulations and data accuracy across clinical and home settings. Field/delivery responsibilities may involve timely delivery of HME products as needed; strong emphasis on customer service, documentation, and cross-functional coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in customer service and patient care
- Experience working with home or durable medical equipment
- Demonstrated proficiency auditing casework
- Proficient translation of diagnoses into ICD-9/ICD-10 codes
- Ability to work independently with accountability and adaptability
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, email, scheduling tools)
- Field/Delivery Positions: valid driver’s license, insured, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record (will be verified)
