Job Summary
Collect missing or incorrect information for claims, billing, and reimbursement with third-party vendors and internal teams. Process insurance correspondence to match claims, handle denials, discounts, and refunds, and notify financial counselors or medical records as needed. Post assigned payments from insurance companies, self-pay, and contract sources while updating account ledgers in MyAvatar and other platforms including Waystar, Availity, WPS/GHA, KMAP, and SFTP. Analyze data to identify billing process improvements and participate in performance improvement initiatives. Maintain confidentiality, adhere to Prairie View's mission and values, and complete required professional development and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree
- Previous healthcare insurance/billing experience
- Good organizational skills
- Basic accounting knowledge
- Proficient at basic keyboarding/word processing skills
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Word
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Outlook
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to prioritize work load with multiple priorities
- Attention to detail
- Ability to analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the billing process
- Ability to work independently and make decisions
- Ability to work with others across the organization to ensure accurate billing of claims
- Must be able to pass both a Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and Central Registry Screen
Desired Qualifications
- Basic accounting knowledge preferred
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel required; PowerPoint preferred
- Ability to analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the billing process preferred
- Ability to maintain an up to date knowledge of industry trends in healthcare legislation, regulations, and processes preferred
