Job Summary
The Insurance Specialist bills patient accounts to the appropriate insurance company, reconciles insurance payments and denials, follows up with insurance companies as needed, and resolves issues regarding patient accounts. Responsibilities include keying patient information into internal systems, analyzing and appealing denials from EOBs, handling refunds and postings of payments/adjustments/denials, addressing patient questions on plan issues, monitoring claim submissions, and participating in special projects as requested by management. Requires strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, professionalism in interaction with patients and vendors, and working knowledge of standard office equipment; proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Prolonged sitting and routine manual tasks are part of the role; hourly pay.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Related computer experience, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
- Minimum two years’ experience in a medical/billing office setting with a strong knowledge of insurance, managed care, Medicare and Medicaid
