Job Summary
Process eligibility, verify benefits, and secure authorizations for inpatient and outpatient accounts to prevent denials. Confirm demographic data, coordinate benefits, and obtain pre-certifications from physicians. Calculate patient financial responsibility estimates and communicate copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket obligations. Collect patient liability prior to service, direct self-pay patients to the advocacy team, and provide charity applications. Maintain compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and government regulations while documenting all transactions accurately.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years Related experience in billing, insurance or registration
- 1-3 years Healthcare experience
- Associate's finance, business or healthcare
- visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- ability to communicate effectively with others
- ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds
- ability to work the hours specified
