Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive loss control evaluations for prospective and existing commercial accounts across Property, Liability, Auto, and Workers' Compensation lines. Identify hazards, evaluate operational exposures, and recommend practical, data-driven solutions to mitigate loss potential while preparing detailed reports on risk quality and suitability for underwriting guidelines. Assist Underwriting in evaluating new business submissions through on-site surveys and exposure analysis, then partner with the team to develop service plans that align with underwriting strategies and customer needs. Analyze loss trends and claim activity to identify root causes, recommending safety programs and operational best practices to reduce frequency and severity of losses. Will work from home with periodic travel to policyholders and meetings in Pekin, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Risk Managment, Engineering, Business or related field
- 5+ years of experience in commercial lines loss control, risk engineering or safety consulting
- Prior Loss Control experience with Commercial Insurance company or Agency
- Experience with multi-line commercial exposures, including property, liability, auto, and workers' compensation
- Loss Control/Safety experience in the Insurance Industry (Workers Comp, Commercial Auto, Property or General Liability)
- Working knowledge of regulatory compliance agencies such as OSHA, DOT, NFPA, NEC and other safety related agencies
- Ability to write, diagnose, collect, extrapolate and review data to assist Policyholders in reducing losses
- Must be self-directed and must work effectively independently, yet equally comfortable contributing in a team environment
- Experience counseling, guiding, leading, coordinating, and listening to clients
- Experience in public speaking and safety knowledge background
- Must have valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Willingness and ability to travel to policyholders and potential clients within assigned territory
- Travel overnight as needed (minimal)
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
- Must reside in Chicagoland, IL (Northern-IL) area
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Risk Managment, Engineering, Business or related field (preferred)
- Attainment of professional designations, such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing/new priorities
