Job Summary
Evaluate crop insurance and risk management options for producers across Northern Alabama's 27 counties. Build and maintain relationships with farmers, landowners, and agribusiness partners while learning their operations to connect coverage decisions to revenue protection. Communicate proactively during peak seasons for sales, renewals, acreage reporting, servicing, and claims support. Represent Farm Shield and Alabama Farm Credit professionally in the agricultural community, supporting growth opportunities around livestock and pasture products. Complete required licensing within the first few months and work alongside the Director of Farm Shield Crop Insurance Agency.
Required Qualifications
- Crop insurance licensing
- Comfortable spending time on the road, visiting customers, supporting member needs across the region, and being present where relationships are built — on farms, in offices, and in the agricultural community
- Strong connection to Alabama agriculture
- Ability to build trust
- Willingness to learn
- Drive to grow
- Natural ability to talk with producers
- Understanding of agriculture from a business and financial perspective
- Understanding of how farmers think and talk about their business
- Ability to naturally bring important conversations about revenue protection, risk, and numbers into the relationship
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in production agriculture or growing up around a farm
- Agribusiness sales or service experience
- Ag lending or financial services experience
- Seed, chemical, fertilizer, equipment, or farm supply sales experience
- Insurance or relationship-based sales experience
- Experience working directly with Alabama farmers or rural communities
- Prior crop insurance experience
- Bachelor's degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics, business, finance, marketing, or a related field
