Job Summary

Process required information for scheduling, pre-registration, and insurance verification in a timely, organized, and professional manner. Verify eligibility and benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, and authorization requirements, while completing pre-registration for ambulatory clinics. Maintain strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word to manage multi-tasking demands. Requires high school education plus two years of post-secondary education or equivalent experience in accounts receivable, health care billing, or customer service, along with a typing speed of 30 words per minute. This role supports Nebraska Medicine's mission to deliver exceptional care through collaboration within a network of hospitals and clinics.

Required Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in accounts receivable, health care billing or customer service
  • Multi-tasking and problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of computer based programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with aptitude for detail oriented work
  • Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 90% accuracy

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an insurance or medical office environment
  • Associate's degree in business administration or college level business coursework
  • Certified coder
  • Knowledge of Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), Outpatient Code Editor (OCE), National Coverage Determination (NCD), and Local Coverage Determination (LCD) edits
  • Knowledge of third party payer edits
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology including International Classification of Diseases (ICD), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) coding
  • Knowledge of databases and flowcharting processes
  • 9005ICAL terminology
