Insurance Operations & Underwriting Lead

Job Summary
Conduct end-to-end delivery of insurance operations in China, overseeing Underwriting, Policy Management, Claims Handling, and Customer Service. Perform and oversee underwriting activities in line with delegated authority and regional guidelines, while managing the full policy lifecycle from onboarding to cancellations. Manage day-to-day claims handling from first notification to settlement, acting as the escalation point for complex, high-value, or sensitive claims. Serve as the senior point of contact for key corporate and individual clients, ensuring compliance with local regulatory and internal governance requirements. This role operates within APRIL International's Asia, Europe, and Americas teams, supporting the China business as it scales across 20 countries.
Required Qualifications
- Solid experience across multiple insurance functions (underwriting, policy admin, claims, or operations)
- Native Mandarin
- working English
- Ability to operate hands-on, independently, and with limited local support
- High attention to detail
- strong ownership mindset
- Comfortable interfacing with insurers, brokers, providers, and internal stakeholders
Desired Qualifications
- Prior exposure to health insurance / IPMI / employee benefits
- Strong understanding of insurance policy structures and claims adjudication
- Experience with insurance administration and claims systems
