Job Summary
The Insurance Follow-Up Specialist is responsible for pursuing timely resolution of billed claims by contacting insurance carriers and supporting accurate billing processes. This role involves following up with insurance companies on claims, reviewing patient account notes, determining eligibility, and ensuring all documentation for billing is complete. Candidates must have at least one year of relevant experience in insurance follow-up or medical billing/coding. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are also essential.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of one (1) year of direct experience in insurance follow-up or medical billing/coding is required—no exceptions
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate or equivalent relevant work experience desired
Desired Qualifications
- Previous insurance/medical billing/customer service experience preferred
- EPIC knowledge is a plus
- Proficient personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a multitasked environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Typing speed of 35 words per minute with no more than 3 errors
