Job Summary
Insurance Follow-Up Representative / Medical Collector responsible for reviewing insurance denials, verifying eligibility and coordination of benefits, attaching referrals/authorizations to appointments/charges, and reducing accounts receivable. Candidates will research information to complete billing processes, post payments, identify trends, and communicate with insurance carriers and patients. Requires 1-3 years of medical billing/collections experience, knowledge of ICD-10/CPT coding, and proficiency with Athena billing and Microsoft Office applications. The role involves a normal office environment with duties centered on claims processing, denial management, and patient/provider coordination within the Center for Bone & Joint Surgery’s revenue cycle, aiming for accurate and timely reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum one to three years of experience in medical billing and collections
- Effective communication with insurance carriers and patients
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Experience with Athena billing & collections preferred
- Advanced computer skills including Windows-based programs
- Strong customer service and professional conduct
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and analyze data
