Job Summary
Manage a portfolio of pending life insurance applications, diagnosing root causes of stalled cases and driving resolution through direct collaboration with carriers, underwriting, and policy administration teams. Independently investigate complex issues to identify blockers and recommend process improvements, while leading recurring calls to track aging and resolution plans. Utilize Salesforce, Mode, and Hex to analyze trends across the pending book and maintain accurate case documentation. Partner with operations and product teams to address system defects and workflow gaps, focusing on Indexed Universal Life products. This role supports Ethos's mission to democratize access to life insurance by transforming the underwriting experience for consumers and agents.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in life insurance new business, case management, underwriting support, or policy administration
- Strong working knowledge of life insurance products and the application-to-issue lifecycle
- Demonstrated ability to work independently: given a portfolio of pending cases, able to prioritize by urgency and impact, diagnose blockers, and drive resolution with minimal oversight
- Experience partnering directly with carrier underwriting or new business teams to resolve outstanding requirements or case blockers
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify patterns and trends across a portfolio of cases rather than only resolving cases individually
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience leading or participating in carrier-facing calls
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment and adapting to new products and carrier processes

- Experience with Mode, Hex, SQL, or similar analytics/reporting tools
- Experience with Indexed Universal Life (IUL) products specifically
