Review and correct claims for accuracy before submission through the electronic health record (EPIC), preparing both electronic and paper claims for various insurance carriers. Submit claims, manage held claims to meet timely filing limits, and perform follow-ups on unpaid claims via phone or payer portals to ensure payment. Respond to inquiries from patients and insurance companies, research denials to re-submit or appeal claims, and adjust claims for late charges or coverage changes. Update patient demographics, insurance information, and credit balances to settle accounts. Handle patient payments, set up payment plans, and educate patients on financial responsibilities. Requires 1-2 years of healthcare billing and EPIC experience.
