Job Summary
On-site Insurance Authorization Specialist at Buffalo General Medical Center responsible for updating patient eligibility verification and submitting supporting documentation to insurance companies to obtain authorization for treatment. Will check copay amounts and patient financial responsibility, communicate authorization statuses to the screening team and hospital staff, assist screeners with tasks, verify information on websites, and build relationships with hospital workers. This is an on-site role located in Buffalo, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of health care experience
- 2+ years of insurance or authorization related experience preferred
- Experience long term care reimbursement preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Point Click Care strongly preferred
