Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, heat exchangers, and storage tanks to control noise and maintain temperatures. Read blueprints and select insulation materials like fiberglass, foam rubber, or urethane based on heat retention and surface requirements. Measure, cut, and fit materials around obstructions while preparing surfaces with adhesives or cement. Cover and seal insulated surfaces using plastic covers, sealants, tape, or asphalt mastic, and install sheet metal for weather protection. Follow hazardous waste guidelines, potentially remove asbestos, and complete records while maintaining tools and housekeeping. Wear required PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots. Work at heights, climb ladders, and operate in all weather conditions with moderate to high noise levels.
