Job Summary
Instrumentation Technician Specialist 2 leads calibration, build, diagnostics, and calibration-related operations for precision instrumentation used in thermal performance testing, with field data collection at customer power plants. Responsibilities include SME leadership for a calibration station, directing test and calibration of instruments (pressure transmitters, temperature controls, thermocouples, RTDs, thermometers, power load devices), managing MAP activities, on-the-job training for new technicians, maintaining lab reference standards, supporting engineering traceability and quality documentation, configuring test fixtures and lab equipment, observing instrument performance, identifying defects, and performing calibration adjustments. Travel approx. 20% to domestic power plant sites; field tests lasting 1–3 weeks, 1–2 jobs per year. Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, calibration practices, installation requirements, troubleshooting, and electrical/mechanical skills; familiarity with mA/mV measurements, 5S/Kanban, CAPA, and quality/testing specifications.
