Job Summary
Instrumentation Technician Specialist 2 leads calibration, build, diagnostic, repair and related operational activities for precision instrumentation used in Thermal Performance Testing and supports field testing/data collection at customers’ power plants. Responsibilities include SME-level calibration of instruments (pressure transmitters, thermocouples, RTDs, thermometers, power load devices), directing OJT for new technicians, maintaining lab reference standards, supporting traceability with Engineering, managing MAP activities, ensuring quality data collection, performing instrument setup and adjustments to meet specifications, and travel to domestic sites (~20%). The role requires strong understanding of instrumentation principles, calibration processes, control systems, and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, with emphasis on data quality, CAPA implementation, and maintaining KANBAN/5S in lab operations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field OR minimum of 2 years of industry experience and familiarity with calibration used for thermal performance testing and evaluation.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% in support of testing at domestic power plant sites.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime (including weekends), as needed.
