Job Summary
Execute instrumentation projects from conceptual engineering through detailed design, construction, and start-up, providing technical support to assigned refinery process areas. Manage multiple projects safely and within budget, developing strategies to meet schedules while mitigating delays. Perform specification and design of instrumentation, including sizing, datasheet development, and preparation of technical requisitions for procurement. Support testing and commissioning activities, including factory and site acceptance testing, loop checks, and calibration. Ensure compliance with company standards by supporting process safety activities, including Management of Change, HAZOP, and Safety Instrumented Systems lifecycle requirements. Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including updates to piping and instrumentation diagrams, and coordinate with external consultants and cross-functional teams. Participate in HAZOP reviews and incident investigations, applying engineering codes to ensure designs meet safety and environmental standards. Work on a 9/80 or 4/1 schedule with core business hours of 7 AM to 4:30 PM, reporting to the Area Instrument Engineering Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years of post-degree instrumentation engineering experience in a refinery, chemical plant, or similar industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator)
- Ability to physically perform all tasks in the field
- Ability to take hair drug test and physical
- Valid driver's license
- Legal authorization to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship
- Ability to work on the available schedules: 9/80 or 4/1
- Ability to handle after hours calls
- Ability to support TAR approximately once a year
- Core Business hours availability: 7 AM - 4:30 PM
- Relocation availability
