Job Summary
Instrumentation Laboratory Technologist in Geochemistry responsible for designing, developing, testing, installing and operating laboratory equipment and systems; conducting applied research and experimental testing; compiling and analyzing data and preparing reports; receiving, inspecting, sorting, and labeling client samples; troubleshooting and repairing equipment; calibrating setup prior to analysis; maintaining a clean, safe working environment; following health, safety, and environmental policies and quality system protocols; training junior technicians; and thriving in a production lab with high workloads. Requires a minimum high school diploma with science-related post-secondary education preferred, 3-5 years of lab experience, proficiency with ICP-MS/ICP-OES, strong data-handling skills, and ability to work rotating shifts. compensation is $23 to $27 per hour for 40 hours per week, with health/dental/vision benefits and RRSP eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary education in a science-related program (preferred)
- 3-5 years of laboratory experience
- Working knowledge of ICP-MS and ICP-OES (Agilent preferred)
- Proficiency in software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work in a rotating schedule (days, afternoons & evenings)
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Strong attention to detail and time management
