Job Summary
Calibrate and maintain field instruments including temperature sensors, pressure transmitters, and pH analyzers on milk processing and packaging lines. Troubleshoot PLC-based control systems, HMI/SCADA alarms, and motor failures to minimize unplanned downtime. Diagnose and repair instrumentation issues on filling lines, blow molders, and conveyors while adhering to strict food safety and sanitary standards. Respond to production trouble calls, update electrical drawings, and maintain calibration records in the CMMS. Work rotating 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM) on a 2-2-3 schedule in wet, cold environments.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as an Instrument Technician in a food, beverage, or dairy manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with HART communicators and calibration tools (Fluke, or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA platforms
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, electrical schematics, and instrument data sheets
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently under pressure
- Availability for 12-hour shift work and OT during planned maintenance
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders, and work at heights
- Must be able to wear required PPE including Arc Rated clothing, hearing protection, safety glasses, and slip-resistant footwear
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Industrial Automation
- Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Siemens or similar platforms
- Knowledge of CIP/SIP system controls and automated valve sequencing
- Knowledge of communications protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, AS-i, Modbus )
- NICET certification or equivalent instrumentation training
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections (FDA, USDA, or state dairy authority)
