Job Summary
Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer – Nuclear at Hatch in the U.S. Role focuses on preparing and supporting engineering work packages, defining I&C project requirements (scope, cost, schedule), and delivering I&C design artifacts (instrument index, I/O lists, control narratives, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, ISA loop drawings, motor control schematics, system architecture drawings). Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, participating in HAZOP/COMS and safety reviews, interfacing with other disciplines, managing vendor relationships, and supporting business development through proposals and pursuit plans for the nuclear industry. Qualifications include a B.S./B.Eng. in a relevant engineering discipline, PE or EIT preferred, 7–10 years of design experience in nuclear/thermal plants, knowledge of IEEE/ISA/IEC codes, experience with construction/commissioning, and ability to travel. The role emphasizes ability to communicate complex technical information to clients and regulators, and working with a nuclear quality management framework (ASME NQA-1). Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status preferred
- Minimum of 7–10 years of project experience in the design of instrumentation and control systems in nuclear and/or thermal power plants
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to function with minimal supervision
- Experience with IEEE, ISA, and IEC
- Experience with construction and commissioning activities
- Experience working in PWR and BWR plants
- Experience with advanced Generation IV reactors desirable
- Experience with nuclear quality management system (ASME NQA-1)
- Eligibility to work on export-controlled projects under 10 CFR 810
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
