Job Summary
Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer – Nuclear based in Tampa, FL. You will lead and mentor teams in the design, analysis, and delivery of I&C systems for nuclear and thermal power plants. Responsibilities include defining project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule; developing I&C deliverables such as instrumentation calculations, data sheets, I/O lists, P&IDs, control narratives, and system architecture drawings; supporting execution of work packages to meet budgets and schedules; participating in safety reviews (HAZOP, COMS); interfacing with other engineering disciplines; managing vendor relationships; and contributing to business development efforts and proposals for nuclear projects. Qualifications include a B.S./B.Eng. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, PE or EIT preferred, 7–10 years of relevant experience, familiarity with IEEE/ISA/IEC standards, and ability to travel domestically and internationally. The role emphasizes clear communication, independent work capability, and experience with construction and commissioning activities in nuclear facilities.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status is preferred
- Minimum of 7–10 years of project experience in the design of instrumentation and control systems in nuclear and/or thermal power plants
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate complex technical information to clients, regulators, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Experience with construction and commissioning activities
- Experience working in pressurized water reactor (PWR) and boiling water reactor (BWR) plants
- Knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards, including IEEE, ISA, and IEC
- Ability to travel for short-term business trips, domestically and internationally
- Eligibility to work on export-controlled projects subject to 10 CFR 810
