Job Summary
Design and develop instrumentation and control systems for advanced manufacturing facilities, including facility control, fire alarm, chemical controls, TGM, and SCADA systems. Develop P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment data sheets while performing sizing and selection of instruments, valves, and control devices. Support proposals, budgets, schedules, and project planning activities by reviewing vendor submittals for code and client compliance. Develop Sequences of Operation (SOO) documentation and participate in technical presentations and multidisciplinary project coordination. Requires 6+ years of industrial controls engineering experience, EIT certification, and proficiency with Allen-Bradley, Schneider Modicon, and Siemens PLCs. Position involves field work in active construction environments with potential travel; background check and drug screening required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline from an ABET-accredited university
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- 6+ years of experience in industrial controls engineering and design
- Experience designing PLC-based systems including Allen-Bradley, Schneider Modicon, and Siemens
- Working knowledge of PLC systems, industrial networks, cybersecurity, motor control, and power distribution systems
- Understanding of NFPA 70 and UL 508A standards
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Must be available for travel
- Must be available for field work in active construction environments
Desired Qualifications
- PE license or ability to obtain licensure in Virginia
- Experience with semiconductor manufacturing tools or cleanroom environments
- Experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, data centers, or similar industrial environments
- Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
- Experience leading engineering teams and managing design efforts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools
- Strong problem-solving mindset with focus on innovation and continuous improvement
- Preference for local candidates
