Job Summary
Conduct multi-discipline engineering for nuclear power plant Instrumentation and Control projects, integrating electrical, computer, and mechanical systems with control theory. Prepare specifications for instrumentation procurement and engineering calculations while working with process sensors, digital controllers, and reactor components. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for field verification, supporting station outage activities as required. Utilize modern tools, automation, and AI to solve engineering problems, automate calculations, and reduce rework. Work in a hybrid schedule with three days per week in-office at the Phoenix location.
Required Qualifications
- A BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (from an ABET accredited program) with a strong academic background and coursework in analog and digital control systems
- 3 or more years of experience in design engineering for nuclear power plant control systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for project coordination and field verification of designs
- Must be available for in-office work 3 days per week
- Must be able to solve problems using modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Must be able to build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results
Desired Qualifications
- PE license
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems
