Job Summary
Conduct multi-discipline engineering on nuclear power plant instrumentations and controls betterment projects, integrating electrical, mechanical, and control theory systems. Prepare functional requirements, procurement specifications, and engineering calculations for electronic sensors, digital controllers, and reactor components. Draft design input documentation including cable block diagrams and schematics while mentoring junior engineers through technical sessions and on-the-job training. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site verification. Apply modern automation tools and scripting to solve engineering problems, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
Required Qualifications
- A BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (from an ABET accredited program) with a strong academic background and coursework in analog and digital control systems
- A minimum of 3 year of engineering experience or a MS degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for project coordination and field verification of designs
- You are expected to take engineering problems from issue to solution using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Many engineers in these roles build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results
Desired Qualifications
- Coursework in mechatronics
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
