Job Summary
Calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment up to 115 kV at the Ferndale Generating Station. Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on generators, switchgear, and turbine control systems while optimizing PLC, DCS, and SCADA programming. Support plant testing, outages, and capital projects by installing field devices and coordinating with Operations and Engineering teams. Monitor equipment performance, analyze operational data, and maintain accurate maintenance records and calibration documentation. Adhere to strict safety protocols, including confined space entry and hazardous material handling, while working extended shifts with periodic on-call duty.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics Technology, Industrial Electrical Technology, or a related technical field
- Experience in power generation or other industrial facilities
- Knowledge of plant operations, electrical maintenance, safe work practices, and applicable environmental and regulatory requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems and plant instrumentation, including electrical distribution equipment up to 115 kV, switchgear, motor control centers, motors, transformers, generator excitation systems, CEMS, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and associated field devices
- Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, turbine control, combustion control, burner management, boiler control, condition monitoring, and associated industrial network and server systems
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot control system faults
- Demonstrated ability to install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation, electrical, and control systems
- Proven ability to analyze equipment and control system performance, identify root causes, and recommend improvements that enhance plant reliability, efficiency, availability, and equipment life
- Experience collaborating effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, and vendors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Ability to maintain maintenance and calibration records
- Ability to communicate technical recommendations effectively
- Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times
- Ability to remain mentally alert and work safely at all times
- Adherence to all safety warnings and posted signs while on company property
- Ability to follow all NAES safety rules and procedures
- Ability to identify hazards
- Ability to implement corrective actions
- Ability to properly handle hazardous materials and regulated waste
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to work from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights

- Ability to use protective equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection
- Ability to undergo fit testing for respirators
- Ability to adhere to strict smoking restrictions in and around the facility
- Ability to participate in the Fitness for Duty Program
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Ability to undergo post-employment random drug screening
- Ability to work a standard Monday to Friday day-shift schedule
- Ability to work extended work hours and flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to handle periodic callouts and on-call duty
