Job Summary

Instrumentation and Electronics Technician – responsible for the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of site manufacturing control and electrical systems. Maintains and troubleshoots electrical power systems, instrumentation, motor controls, PLCs, HMIs, data systems, and factory control infrastructure. Provides support during machine installations/upgrades, calibrates sensors and instruments, programs/troubleshoots data acquisition equipment and automated facility control equipment, reads schematics/diagrams, performs wiring/layout of electrical panels, and identifies changes to improve plant performance. Requires multi-disciplinary technical skills, ability to work in a team, and compliance with safety procedures. 12-hour rotating shifts: 4 days on, 4 days off, with night shifts and potential overtime; travel for training/Vendors; environment includes warehouse/manufacturing setting with exposure to chemicals and electrical hazards; must obtain/maintain licenses or certifications as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent required; degree in process controls or similar technical field preferred
  • Six years of control, electrical, or electronics experience including computer programming, systems analysis and design, electrical or electronics production system troubleshooting (will be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance and repair of instrument systems, process analyzers, control valves, pressure/flow measurement; electronics manufacturing experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience maintaining motor controls, relay logic, fiber optics and associated end devices
  • Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, servos, Ethernet and wireless communication systems related to plant automation; troubleshooting sensors/instrumentation (photo-eyes, proximity switches, pressure, flow, level, temperature)
  • Ability to read P&ID drawings, pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical schematics; understand national electrical codes
  • Travel required for training and vendor/supplier meetings
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain records; team-oriented; willingness to work extended hours
  • Experience with data acquisition concepts and hardware; familiarity with HMIs and industrial controls
