Job Summary
Lead electrical and controls continuous improvement initiatives while managing direct reports on troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and installation of instrumentation and electrical utility systems. Facilitate on-time execution of controls projects through internal resources or external contracts, and collaborate with plant supervisors to resolve issues impacting throughput and equipment uptime. Assist in scheduling repair and installation activities, offer expertise to prevent reoccurrence of complex problems, and resolve logistical conflicts to give technicians real ownership of their scope. Direct maintenance activities for main power infrastructure, develop preventive maintenance programs, and review reports to prioritize activities and identify improvement opportunities. Directly supervise team members, adjust coaching styles to individual needs, and lead annual safety training while tracking compliance with electrical safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five to ten years of manufacturing experience
- High school diploma; Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or five (5) years of related controls installation and troubleshooting experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in PLC programming and motion control systems
- Experience with HMI programming
- Proficient in troubleshooting, calibrating, configuring, and integrating process instrumentation (flow, level, temperature, density, and related process variables)
- Strong foundation in electrical theory and control system fundamentals
- Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting industrial network protocols (Profinet, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
- Familiarity with industrial electrical distribution systems, safe troubleshooting, and NEC requirements
- Demonstrated experience supervising or leading a technical team, including holding people accountable to a standard and developing their independent judgment over time — not just directing task assignments
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to flex delivery style across technicians with different working and communication preferences
- Occasional travel for technical skills training and other professional development opportunities
- Must be able to position himself/herself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or maintain heavy plant equipment
- Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting and/or stooping
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must have the ability to understand and mitigate risks including following all prescribed safety rules
- Must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary
