Job Summary
Instrumentation & Controls Engineer responsible for maintaining and improving SCADA systems and performing I&C design for development projects (controls, instrumentation, data collection, electrical, and connectivity). Primary duties include designing and implementing control logic, developing PLC/I&C specifications, and guiding testing for ETCH’s pilot and scale-up reactor. Design control algorithms, safety loops, and narratives; author I&C system descriptions and FAT procedures; collaborate with external and internal design teams; assess customer needs and capture functions of the I&C design for process systems; lead design reviews and participate in Process Hazards Analysis; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as the NEC; accommodate a flexible schedule including third shift; located in Baltimore, MD on a full-time basis.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in an I&C development role
- Experience with industrial chemical plants
- Experience with Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, or Emerson hardware and software
- Familiarity with various communications protocols: Modbus TCP, Serial, etc.
- Familiarity with industrial power (3 phase, 480V, transformer specifications) is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work safely and follow safety precautions in industrial environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces, etc.)
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment toward timely execution of goals
