Job Summary
Instrumental Music Teacher for band or orchestra (Secondary) shared between Navarre and Dickinson in South Bend, IN. Responsibilities include delivering instrumental music content aligned with state standards; managing classrooms; maintaining instrument inventory and student rentals; travel to multiple schools may be required; teach General Music as well as Instrumental classes; collaborate with staff, parents, and community partners; plan and implement student performances each semester outside of the school day and participate in community events; use technology (Powerschool, Google Docs/Sheets, email); require transportation to off-site events; highly organized; experience with directing an ensemble and performance experience are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed and highly qualified in Instrumental and General Music
- Bachelor’s degree in music education or performance
- Experience in performance and directing an ensemble
- Experience working with students in an educational environment
- Able to provide transportation to events off-site
- Able to lift and move musical instruments and equipment (50 lbs or less)
- Proficiency with educational technology (Powerschool, Google Docs/Sheets)
- Highly organized
